  Food was pretty great -- wish we knew about the specials, the soft shell crab sounded pretty good. However, I dearly hope that someone who loves the manager here reads this and urges him to seek help. Small business tyrant in his truest form. Staff here must be braver than the troops.

  Reservation for 8 (4 adults, 4 kids) Saturday at 6PM.  We were seated immediately and our drink order was taken along with the kids meals/appetizers.  Drinks (dirty martini straight up) were good/strong...however we were seated over 1 hour before we got our appetizers.  I'm all for a relaxing dinner but the entire meal took over 2.5 hours...while the food was good (3 ppl ordered the halibut special and 1 ordered the lobster ravioli - which was full of lobster and large chunks of lobster in the sauce)....it just seamed like the kitchen couldn't handle the volume of people in the restaurant.

  First time here and would go back weekly! Apps: seafood salad special was beyond amazing. Fried mozzarella was perfect. Dinner special was 11oz filet encrusted with peppercorns and Gorgonzola cheese over whipped potatoes and zucchini. And shrimp Fra Diablo over pasta. Dessert Peanut butter ganache bomb. And tiramisu. Everything was excellent, including the service.  Will be back many many times. A must try!! Don't understand the 3 star review.

  DONT WASTE YOUR TIME. I made a reservation 5 days in advance and was called the day of and was told we were going to be seated outside. Although this was not specified when i made the reservations originally I reluctantly said ok. We Showed up at our reservation time and was told by the owners wife that we were not on the reservation list. We were told there was only a "Melissa" and "MICHELLE" on the list. We told her someone called to confirm only a few hours ago to confirm but she was unapologetic and extremely unprofessional when she continued to make the excuse that she was "the owners wife" and that "things happen".
  
  About 15 minutes later the phone rang and the owners wife answered and said "hey MICHELLE it's me come right in."  I then realized we were clearly bumped off the list bc this person knew the owner.
  
  Then I watched the owner approach a party of four/five who clearly knew him. She told him she did not have reservations. He said "I'll see what i can do" and seated them 5 minutes later. Don't waste your time. They're dishonest and unprofessional and you will only be seated if you know the owner.

  We (party of 2) arrived on a busy Saturday night with no reservations. We were told it would be about a 45 minute wait, but we figured we'd kill some time at the bar outside and put our name in. That was at 7pm. My husband ordered a gin martini, and the bartender seemed bothered and said "I have to go inside for that." He asked what he can order so she didn't have to, and said she had to go inside anyway and then left the bar. She was inside for about 15 minutes and finally came out w his martini. Then the bartender said she was closing up and had to check us out. If we wanted more drinks we had to go inside and get them ourselves! We struck up a conversation with a couple seated next to us, also waiting for a table. They were local and said to expect bad service at Ebby's but the food is good and "hey, it's the jersey shore- you have to expect laid back service". Ok, we agreed and decided to wait. That was 7:45. At around 8:00, the manager (wife of owner) came by and said another half hour, that they were slammed and she added thanks for us being patient. There were multiple empty 2 tops by this time, which we pointed out and she said she just had to set them up, so she couldn't seat us. The couple next to us encouraged us to hang in there- that it was worth the wait and were so close, so although we were beginning to have doubts, we hung in. Well at 8:45, we were really hungry and threw in the towel. We saw the other couple at 9:15 at another establishment and they said the owner's wife came up to them and told them that the kitchen was slammed and that they wouldn't be able to serve them! No offer to comp their drinks or anything! Honestly they need to get their stuff together! There aren't a lot of choices in this area and they could be sitting in a goldmine if their food is as good as the couple we met mentioned.
